what? little brats! what were they doing in there? i think i was one of those little brats. once i hid in the cupboards in front of class at lunch time in 6th grade. i stayed in there till class was well underway. i listened to mr. short ask, "does anyone know where alana is?" when i was good and ready i popped out. surprise, hooray! ANOTHER detention for me! kids are so weird. i thought i was so funny.
Alana- you are hilarious!!! I can just see the confusion on your face: you thinking you were being funny and wondering why on earth you were being sent to the principal's office!
Sounds so familiar- me getting mad at a student and them totally having no idea why!
This is why I always try to explain clearly to my students why their actions are receiving consequences.
i didn't go to the principal's that day. in fact, bless his heart, that particular teacher was always easier on me than any other authority. he asked me to babysit his kids once and i was in shock. i saw right through his efforts to change my behavioral problems by showing he trusted me to be responsible, but it made me feel good all the same.
i was thinking about that incident today after blogging. and i need someone to tell me this... what does it say about me that i STILL think it's funny? i thought and thought. yep, i concluded, still funny. what is wrong with me? am i perpetually 11 years old?
